The Nursery is set in two large attractive houses, which have been suitably adapted to accommodate and meet the needs of young children, in a welcoming, spacious and nurturing environment, and a very extensive outdoor provision (this really has to be seen to be appreciated)
Ofsted observed: ‘Children thrive at this exceptional nursery. Their best interests and needs are at the centre of everything the staff do for them. Children are confident, talkative, and clearly love being in this nurturing, home-from-home environment. Children run to staff for hugs. They delight in showing their key person photos and telling them about their news from home’.
We pride ourselves on having a professional team of qualified and very experienced nursery staff, many of them parents themselves. All of our Team have received bespoke training in Paediatric First Aid, Working with Babies, Safe Sleeping, Safeguarding Children, Food Safety and Allergen awareness. Along with a wealth of other training to enhance their professional development. As part of our strong commitment to supporting our Children’s and Team Member’s mental health and well-being we take part in ‘Freelaxation Friday’ and have implemented the ‘Mini Minds Matter’ wellbeing programme.
Our Team
Zoe Lomas (EYFD) works closely with the Nursery Manager, Emma Kilcourse (EYFD), who is responsible for the day to day care, and together Deputy Manager Helen Fleet (BTEC) with their team they pride themselves on maintaining a consistently high standard of childcare with the emphasis being on learning through play experiences and opportunities, in the Early Years Foundations stage curriculum and Birth to Five Matters, which are implemented throughout the nursery.
Activities At Cornhill
The activities in the kindergarten are all based on the belief that children learn and develop through play. The older children enjoy visits from our dance teacher, and Spanish teacher and we have regular walks for all ages to the park and community.
Ofsted commented that ‘Staff skillfully ask children questions to help to develop their critical thinking and problem-solving skills’ …’This helps children to become eloquent communicators’
Healthy Eating
Menus are chosen carefully by our Manager and full-time qualified and experienced chef to provide a healthy balanced diet of home cooked nutritious food and catering for dietary needs. Our Chef also provides baking and cooking activities with the Children and uses our home grown fruit and vegetables where possible. Children eat with enthusiasm and are coming back for second and third helpings! All children have fresh fruit every day.
We strongly recommend that you make an appointment to visit the Nursery as soon as possible, as places do get booked up well in advance. If you require further information, and our full brochure emailed to you, please do not hesitate to contact us.
